Celebrity Ambassador Heidi Klum brings her supermodel glamour to the fight against cancer, posing in a grey SU2C sweatshirt in the PSA, photographed by Rankin. The highly-anticipated special issue of PEOPLE has a readership of 50 million and hits newsstands April 15, 2011. Sweatshirts similar to the one worn by Klum can be purchased for $45.00 at the SU2C store here: http://bit.ly/su2cshirt, with net proceeds going directly to support collaborative cancer research by multidisciplinary “Dream Teams” of scientists.
The PSA’s message, “It’s Up 2 All of Us to Stand Up To Cancer,” conveys the importance of collaboration. With one in two men and one in three women in the U.S. diagnosed with cancer in their lifetimes, the campaign calls on everyone to stand together to change those dire odds.
Stand Up To Cancer’s innovative approach to research is designed to eliminate barriers that have traditionally inhibited creativity and collaboration by enabling the best and brightest investigators from leading institutions across the country and internationally to work together. Five SU2C collaborative “Dream Teams” are pursuing the most promising research, accelerating the discovery of new therapies for cancer patients and advancing efforts in cancer prevention research. Stand Up To Cancer also awards Innovative Research Grants to individual investigators pursuing high-risk, potentially high-reward cancer research.
