Angelica Velez, otherwise known as “Insectavora” from the Coney Island Sideshow, has a little problem. She’s been trying to donate $10,000 and the worldwide rights to her feature film, “Night Of The Day Of The Dawn…Part 5” to charity but so far the money hasn’t found a home. “The way I’m doing this is simple,” said Insectavora, “I’m asking some big shot celebrities to review my film and if they agree I’m giving them $10,000 to donate to the charity of their choice.” And that’s not all. Insectavora is then going to sign over the worldwide rights to the film to that celebrity so the celebrity can sell the film to any company they want as long as they take the money from that sale and donate it to, again, the charity of their choice. The total charitable contribution could be very substantial.
So what’s happened so far? “I made this offer to Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, Seth MacFarlane, Trey Parker and Matt Stone and all those fat cats turned me down.” Undaunted, Insectavora has come up with a new list of names. “Sure, some people would take that rejection from those wicked little celebrities and quit. But that’s not me. This is a worthy cause and I’m not going to stop working on it until I get this truckload of money to a charity.”
In order to move this forward Insectavora has officially made her offer to a new group of celebrities. The list is impressive: Ben Stiller, Conan O’Brien, Roseanne Barr, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Robin Williams, Jimmy Kimmel and Ashton Kutcher. “It’s the same sweet deal,” said Insectavora, ”review the film and get $10,000.00 and the worldwide rights to the movie.” She remains upbeat and is certain that someone from this list will come forward. “It’s not a big time commitment and I know, sooner or later, I’ll find a celebrity with a gigantic heart and golden soul that wants to get involved.”
And what about the celebrities that have already turned the project down? “I feel a deep unbending sense of sorrow about that and I’m sending them all a copy of ‘The Sacred Teachings Of The Buddha.’ In addition, I will no longer watch ‘South Park’ and ‘Family Guy’ until I receive a written apology from Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Seth MacFarlane. I want it in writing because their signatures would be quite valuable when I sell them on E-bay.” And what about the other celebrities that refused her offer? “In all honesty I never watched ’30 Rock’ so I don’t have to boycott Tina Fey’s show. I’ll just speak poorly of her when I converse with friends and neighbors. And I think Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell and Eddie Murphy are still somewhat funny, it’s just now their humor won’t be as effective on me because they threw me under a bus.”
In addition to the feature film, Insectavora is also donating a CD/DVD collection of music to charity. She is working with director Jim Riffel and producer Mark Zobian on a project that is donating the worldwide rights to ten film properties to charity.
